Why Bus Advertising is a good idea of Marketing

Unless every dollar invested in an advertising campaign for a product or service is spent wisely, there is a chance that most of the money will go down the drain. An advertising campaign is effective only if a large number of people come across it and remember it. This is done by maximizing the impact on the viewers. In the past, advertising through bus wraps (advertisements printed on buses) was very expensive and there were some restrictions as well, therefore only a few selective companies could afford it. But with the improvement in technology, the cost has come down considerably.

One of the reasons why bus wrapping is so effective, besides being friendly to the budget as well as the marketing plan, is that it involves the concept of an advertisement that moves, and every where the bus goes it hits the targeted audience. This is not unlike a sniper or sharp shooter assigned designated targets. The people on the streets where the bus is traveling can not help but look at the bus, because of the fact that it is at eye level (unlike a billboard, which only works when people look upwards in order to see the ad).

Why Bus Advertising

1. Flexibility

Advertisements can be changed from time to time and without any extra costs. This way any changes in the business such as new products, promotions, or offers can be incorporated into the campaign.

2. Target Specific Areas

Bus wraps can be used to target prospective customers in a specific location (with identified boundaries) only. Using buses which have fixed routes in the selected area prevents any loss in money allocated for advertising, and ensures that only the targeted customers see the advertisement. There is a chance of wastage when other channels such as T.V, radio, and newspapers are used since distant customers are likely to view the advertisement as well, which is not a part of the plan. The bus wrap method also allows the company to communicate with markets which can not be reached easily. These include career women and those who are between the ages of eighteen and twenty four.

3. Captive Audience

When an advertisement runs on the T.V or is printed in the newspaper, the viewers can change the channel, turn of the T.V, or put the newspaper away. But in the case of advertisements on buses, people can not do any of the above. They just have to see it, and this increases the impact of the advertisement. Another effective feature of bus wraps is that the message they portray can be viewed by people in shopping areas. There may be a chance that the viewers are encouraged to make a purchase according to what they see.
